Process

Six weeks,
four stages.

Nothing is cast or moulded. Each piece is thrown, trimmed and glazed by hand, then left to the kiln.

About the studio

“I want the pot to show how it was made.”

Artist Name trained as a production potter before opening Studio Name in Dubai in 2019. The studio is one wheel, one gas kiln and a long table — and, twice a year, a borrowed wood kiln in the mountains.

The work is functional first: bowls meant for tea, jars meant for keeping things. The marks of the hand, the drips and the kiln accidents are left in on purpose.
